Directions for the Mesopotamia Lab - Tuesday, 11-18-14  *  Welcome!

 

 

A)  Click these two links to open two new browser tabs, then return to this tab:

  1. Mr. Branda's Professional Page
  2. Google Images

         

 

B)  Open your Locker, where you will put today's work when you're done. 

  1. Click the Hamilton tab, at left above.
  2. Log into SchoolLoop. 
  3. Click "My Locker".
  4. Come back to this tab.

 

C)  Download the Presentation Template from the Locker on Mr. Branda's Professional Page.

  1. Click the rightmost tab, above, for Mr. Branda's Professional Page
  2. Save this file to your Desktop.

 

D)  Begin typing the text from your notes into the Template. 

  1. Double-click pwrpnt project.ppt on your Desktop to open it. 
  2. Add your name inside. 
  3. Key in the bullet points from your notes on each slide.
  4. Picture will go on one side; text on the other.  Either side is OK.

 

E)  Add a picture to each slide to make the meaning more vivid.

  1. You need five pictures:  Look for them using Google Images, which you already have open (third tab). 
  2. As an example, type "Geography Mesopotamia" in the search box.  As a trial, choose the orange map you see at right. 
  3. Click on the image to see a larger version. 
  4. Right-click the large version to save it to the desktop. 
  5. Drag the image from the Desktop onto the placeholder at the left.  (Note:  text and image can go on either side:  take your pick.)
  6. Click the "resize" button (circled in dotted yellow at left), which will cause the entire image to be displayed in the placeholder.
  7. Drag the image upward to adjust its vertical position.

 

F)  Save your work!

  1. Key command-S (hold down the Command key and tap "S"), or choose File/Save from the top menu.

 

G)  Upload the Presentation to your Locker. 

  1. Click the tab where you opened "My Locker". 
  2. Choose "Add/File". 
  3. Double-click the file "pwrpnt project.ppt". 
  4. The file is uploaded to your Locker.

 

H)  Submit the Assignment from your Locker, starting on your Home Page.

  1. Click your name in upper right-hand corner of the screen to go to your Home Page.
  2. Find the Mesopotamia Assignment under your Current Assignments. 
  3. Click Submit from Locker.  Add a checkmark beside your PowerPoint file.
  4. A Submit button will appear.  Click it. 
  5. Done!
