----------------------------------------------------------------

Today’s Learning Targets (Can You Master Them?)

• Understand:   A browser-based webpage editor like the ones used by pbworks, wikispaces, and Google Sites, make it easy to create and maintain a web page online.

• Know:  Meaning of terms: permissions, folder, home page, profile, DMCA takedown request.

• Do:  Create an abuelita-approved web page that has your first name and public domain image of your choice on it.

• Understand:  Computer viruses are malicious software designed to steal your data, put others in control of your computer, and/or damage your equipment.

• Know:  Meaning of terms virus, Trojan, backdoor.

• Do:  Tell some of the history of computer viruses.  Describe law enforcement efforts to catch and punish offenders.

• Understand:  Info on the net may be untrustworthy because it's out-of-date, based on wrong information, or deliberately intended to deceive.

• Know:  Meaning of the terms fraud, hoax, gullible.

• Do:  Inspect pictures circulated on the net to determine which are real and which faked.

• Understand:  Given a complex problem, engineers divide it into smaller, independent jobs that they can solve separately.

Know:  The Prototype This!  engineers not only divided up the requirements, but researched to see how other engineers have solved similar problems.

Do:  Identify the 'smaller tasks' we saw the Prototype This! engineers tackle so far.  Explain how you think these solutions will be integrated in the final event.

• Understand:  Touch typing can get you a better job and gives you a way to make money in school.

• Know:  The District goal for students' touch typing speed is 25 wpm with at least 90% accuracy.

Do:  Key the Bancroft Middle School typing tests at 25 wpm or better.
